Summertime Blues
And the cure
Hello friends!
July seemed to go by quickly, didn’t it? Spending all of June in France did wonders for my mental health, but of course now I am back and… <gestures wildly at everything>
Yeah. Anyway! I wanted to post a short note with some good news to beat the summertime blues. Big shout out and thank you to everyone who supported my effort with Jessica Hagy to raise money for the ACLU with our album MAYDAY!
I took advantage of an opportunity to double our donation, so we sent them $200!
I wish the numbers were bigger but what with people prioritizing rent and food, I know it can be tough to donate, hence our effort. Thank you! If you didn’t get a chance you can still pick up the album and I will continue to donate proceeds from it. I am kicking around the idea of doing more “promotions” like this, so let me know if you have a charity you think it worthy. I might do democracy forward next, unknown.
In other news, I have a new music project called MASSIVE FRONT that is an industrial post-rock thing with actual singing and melody. In contrast to MAYDAY’s super dark, spoken-word funk this is more Nine Inch Nails coded. More on that soon as I hope to actually attempt to TOUR with it. TBD.
Finally, on a personal note, I have begun to revive my interest in sprint triathlons and managed to actually complete the distances at the gym several times recently, and I’m looking forward to actually trying it in the real world soon. My time in the gym was 125 minutes, most of which was taken up by my very slow swim, but prior to about two weeks ago I couldn’t even do a lap, so a quarter mile feels magical. Al it took was a mask that covered my nose! I couldn’t get the hang of breathing right while swimming freestyle without horking in a bunch of water. So that’s fun!
If you don’t already, please consider following my on the interwebz? Thanks!
Love yiz!
A
